Volunteers Rescue Truckloads
of Katrina Pets

Dozens
of animals rescued after Hurricane Katrina in
Louisiana and Mississippi are now safe in Central
Florida and looking for homes, according to a
Local 6 News report.
About 40 dogs and cats were rescued from the
flooded Gulf Coast after the storm and arrived
Tuesday in Seminole County. Volunteers working
for Pet Rescue By Judy took truckloads of animal
supplies to Louisiana over the weekend and then
came back with truckloads of homeless pets.
The pets that arrived in Tuesday are purebreds
and mixes and all need new homes and owners.
"They have been by themselves and are used
to human companionship," Tuscawilla Oak Animal
Hospital worker Janis Fullenwider said. "They
crave that right now and they are really out of
their element and just want companionship."
If you'd like to help by becoming a pet foster
parent or donating supplies, you are urged to
call Pet Rescue By Judy at (407) 716-5977 or click
