The Welsh Corgi is low-set, strong, sturdily built and active. Its expression is interested and never shy or vicious. The Corgi coat is medium length with a short, thick, weather-resistant undercoat and a longer outer coat. The coat is also usually straight though some wavy coats do appear. Corgi’s come in red, sable, fawn, black and tan and sometimes have white marking on their legs, chest, and/or neck.

In early times the Welsh Corgi earned is living the hard way in the Welsh Mountains working for a farmer and his family. Amongst his many jobs were bird hunter, ratter, duck and geese herding, and cattle or sheep herding. Today the Corgi is the smallest member of the herding group.
